Things To Do In Moalboal

Moalboal has a vast range of activities to get into. The incredible marine life and colorful coral offers great snorkeling and diving and the mountains has its amazing scenery perfect for hiking or biking. Moalboal never gets boring and has a great deal to offer for anyone.
Listed down below is some of the most attractive things to do.

Scuba Diving and Snorkeling

Moalboal is famous for its many dive sites with great walls ranging from beautiful reefs at 3-5 m down to a bottom at around 40-45 m. For the most part you will experience an array of macro life but every now and then you might find something bigger such as Thresher shark or giant Trevally. Importantly, the main attraction here is the Sardine run with over 7 million sardines in one school. It’s the second largest in the world, as such it is a must while you spend your time here. let’s just say diving in Moalboal is incredible! There are many Dive Centers and Tour agencies in Moalboal but we recommend Quo Vadis Dive Resort which is a highly recommended PADI 5 Star Dive Center and is located only 150 meters from Divers Lodge.

Pescador Island

Pescador is for anyone. Diving, snorkeling, freediving or just to sit on the boat to witness the pretty little island and its clear water. But underwater, that’s where the fun begins. The wall is going down to 50 meters, it’s filled with spectacular crevasses, over hangs and caves. And the sloping wall is dressed in big hard corals where you often can see schools of inquisitive violet fusiliers and many other reef fishes. Here you can set your eyes on many mysterious creatures like giant frog fish, leaf scorpion fish, clown trigger fish, sea moths, leaf scorpion fish and many more. Don’t forget to look out in the blue and you can see small schools of sardines, butterfly fish, jack fish, yellow-tail barracuda, mackerel and red tooth trigger fish.

White Beach & Lambug Beach

White beach. Located 6km North or a 20 min drive from Divers Lodge. White beach is a popular place for locals on the weekends where small eateries and seats can be hired. Sometimes you can see turtles just offshore and the corals here a bit farther out are pristine. Lambuk beach located a 40 minutes South of Moalboal is still somewhat a secret unknown to many. It’s a 30-40 minute drive from Panagsama, but it’s worth it, the sand here is whiter than White beach and weekdays you can almost find yourself alone here. There is some really nice corals where the sand slopes down in the water so bring a mask and snorkel!

Kawasan Falls & Canyoneering

Only a 30 minute drive, located 17km south of Moalboal, Kawasan Falls comprise a series of three waterfalls; the largest cascades 20m into a massive, crystal blue swimming hole. The second and third waterfalls are more peaceful, and you can even scramble beyond these to more secluded spots. This is a beautiful sight and makes beautiful photos. If possible try to avoid weekends when it tends to be very busy. You can make canyoneering at a few different waterfalls from beautiful Kawasan Falls being a fun adventure for everyone to a bit more challenging Tison Falls being a real adventure. Canyoneering involves traveling down creeks or streams within a canyon by a variety of means including walking, swimming, climbing and abseiling (Tison falls). Suitable for anyone looking for a wet, fun and active full day in pristine condition.

Osmena Peak

The highest mountain in Cebu that is a favourite among hikers for its picturesque view of the countryside. Most known as O’ Peak, it offers a breath-taking view of the sunrise, sunset and the white coastline hugging the coral blue sea and jagged hills with lush grass and patches of flowers. Osmena Peak rises 1,013 meters above sea level and is nestled between the southern towns of Dalaguete and Badian.

Panagsama & Night Life

Panagsama is the area and strip where most bars, restaurants and shops are located. From Divers Lodge its a convenient 5-10 minute walk along the beach to get there. In Panagsama you can go snorkeling at the Sardines or have a cooling sunset drink at any of the beach bars or just have a bite at any of the many restaurants. As the sun sets and the night life begins there are many places to go to. Most famous for having a couple of drinks and meeting people is Chilli Bar. Other places to enjoy a good meal or drink is the Sea View Restaurant at Quo Vadis Dive Resort.

Oslob Whale Shark Watching

Oslob is located 1.5 hour drive from our resort in Pangasama. Whale shark watching in Cebu started last September 2011 and it became popular all over the world when the news hit in the internet last November 2011. By December 2011, local fishermen’s interact with the whale sharks by feeding them. That resulted in flocking of tourism to the beach of Tan-awan. Large numbers of tourists began arriving in Oslob not just to see the whale sharks being fed but also to snorkel or dive with them. Whale sharks are the largest fish in the ocean. The typical whale shark size is 4-12 meters. Oslob is home to schools of these amazing creatures and they can be seen by divers and non-divers, swimmers and non-swimmers, the old and the young alike.
